Enclosure under patio roof

You can convert your existing patio, with roof or without, into a beautiful sunroom enclosure. There are basically two types of sunroom enclosures to consider. The modular type which is a factory made sections that will be fitted and installed at the job location. The second type is a custom built that offers almost unlimited option in design, materials and finishing. Both cost just about the same and in some cases the custom built might cost less.

So how would you know what type to have? One way is to check this Blog often and read my future articles about enclosures and sunrooms. I am going to display photos of actual sunroom enclosures with related comments.

The final decision of the type of enclosure might be made by your HOA. Several of the new communities in the Phoenix Valley will not allow any of the modular sunroom enclosure and will only approve a custom built enclosure that will look like the house. Not only the same exterior colors but also the same exterior finishing.

I will be happy to answer any of your questions regarding patio enclosures, patio roof covers and sunrooms. Write to: akagan1@cox.net

Most of the residential homes, especially the new one today, have some kind of a covered or uncovered patio. Patio and outdoor furniture is a dominate business in Arizona, along with varieties of patio roof covers, patio enclosures and sun rooms. Sunroom in Chandler Arizona

We converted an existing covered patio into a larger livable sunroom enclosure. The HOA requested that the addition will have the same style and colors as of the existing house. Also, they requested that the new addition roof will have the same roof tiles as of the house roof. We also tried to build this addition with as many “green” construction features within the HOA limitation. The “Green” features in this addition are:

We used light gauge steel and DenseGlass exterior sheathings

Door and windows are insulated with low “E” coating and argon gas.

We installed a high efficiency heat pump for heating and cooling.

Patio Enclosures and Sunrooms design

There is nothing quite like a patio addition to enhance the livable space in your home. Even if you live in a climate where the weather can be a challenge, there are patio plans available to make your patio enjoyable all year round by using enclosures.

There are many different options to consider when designing plans for patio enclosures. The size, the shape, the materials, and the complexity of a patio enclosure are just a few examples of things you need to think about. Depending on your level of remodeling skill and experience, you may or may not be able to do the actual construction yourself.

start with the purpose of the patio enclosure. Do you want your patio to be completely enclosed with a door, windows, electricity, and climate control? Or do you want your patio to be open to the fresh air but protected by screens to keep the bugs out? How you plan to use and enjoy your patio enclosure will be the primary drivers that determine your design.

Making Plans for Patio Enclosures

Once you have decided on what you want, you will have to decide how you will build the structure. If you want a complete enclosure you can design it yourself if you have enough knowledge about construction. Another option is to buy a pre-made enclosure kit such as a sunroom or a sun porch structure. Screened porches are usually easier to construct than a sunroom and can be built easier by a homeowner looking to complete the project themselves.

Consult with a reliable and experience Patio Enclosures and Sunrooms contractor. A reliable contractor should be able to draw several option of the proposed design. Also a reliable contractor will examine the existing concrete floor and ground condition and will determine what need to be done to satisfy your local building code. The bottom line is that any plans for patio enclosures you create should be suited to the purpose of the enclosure and the space available.

What are Gazebo, Pergols and Pagoda in AZ

ga - ze - bo

The typical gazebo has a covered roof, with open sides and supporting pillars, or columns. It can be any shape: round, square, rectangular or multi-sided. The covered roof may be domed or turreted (think of a marquee without any sides). The quickly erected, fabric gazebos have become increasingly popular for dining 'al fresco'.

Some round gazebos, especially those suitable for supporting climbing plants, may have an open roof. The distinction, here, between a round pergola and a round gazebo, would be that the round pergola would have flat rafters and the gazebo would have a domed or turreted open roof.
per - go - la

A pergola has supporting, vertical posts with rafters across the top. These are usually open and flat, running at regular intervals horizontally across the structure, and supported by side rafters. Their sides being square or rectangular in shape, they have straight lines as the basis of their structure.

Of course, there are always exceptions to the rule: for instance; a corner pergola, where the rafters radiate out from a central point; some wrought-iron pergolas that have curved rafters, due to the fact that wrought-iron can be molded into more intricate designs; and circular pergolas that, even though they have curved side rafters, still have flat, horizontal rafters radiating out from the centre. Even so, it is obvious that they are all pergolas because they have horizontal rafters running at regular intervals.

pa - go - da

A pagoda is something quite different. Think oriental. Think turrets - like an upside down curved V.

It will often have two or more turrets, and tends to be a much larger structure: in fact, it is usually referred to as a building, and wouldn't normally be found in your average garden. Pagodas were originally built as religious shrines or memorials in the far east.

That being said, the design influences of the pagoda are increasingly seen in other structures we see in our gardens today, especially in the turreted roofs of gazebos, and in turreted pergola rafters. The reason for this is to introduce an 'essence' of the far east into our garden design, making it a haven of calm and relaxation.

Patio Roofs in Arizona - Why Aluminum Roof Leak?

Many patio roofs in Arizona are made of aluminum. All types of aluminum patio roofs including the insulated roof are made of individual panels that need to be connected to one another. Any such connection might leak even if the connection was caulked during the installation. The Arizona high temperatures during the summer cause the patio roof panels to expand and than in the winter the panels constract back. This movement might break the caulking and the roof will start to leak. AZ Enclosures and Sunrooms is specializing in all types of patio roofs and developed a sealing system that will prevent the aluminum roof from leaking. If you have any roofing problem AZ Enclosures and Sunrooms will stop it and your patio roof will never leak again. This unique system was developed 10 years ago and has 100% success rate. Call 602-791-3228 for additional information.

Design Room Addition and Sunroom

It doesn't matter how skilled a contractor or do-it-yourselfer happens to be, if plans for a sunroom aren't in place, construction will not flow smoothly. There are a number of options available for obtaining proper sunroom design ideas and plans. Some choices happen to be much easier and more affordable to pursue.

The best and easier choice is to find a contractor who provides architectural services (in-house license architect) as part of the job proposal. It is much cheaper, and some time at no additional cost. This way only one entity takes the professional responsibility for the entire project from start to finish.

Going to an architect - This is an excellent way to ensure that plans are customized, fit the backyard in question and meet local codes. When a licensed architect creates the plans, homeowners can rest assured they will be structurally sound. Unfortunately, it can be the most time consuming and costly choice, as well.

Selecting ready-made plans - These are available in books and on the Internet. Some construction firms that specialize in sunrooms may also offer them, but only to those who choose to use their services. Ready-made plans from books and the Internet are the most affordable options for obtaining plans aside from a homeowner drawing them up personally. The only downfall with selecting ready-made plans is the lack of customization that goes along with the choice.

Using a design program - Some companies that specialize in sunroom kits offer design programs so homeowners can create their own plans for use in the creation of a kit. This option for the planning stage comes free of charge in most cases. The plans, however, are not usable unless the kit is purchased.

Making sure room addition and sunroom design is handled properly is imperative for the outcome of a building project. The design phase is the essential first step upon which everything else will rest.

Plans, Permit and construction of Room Addition

If you need an extra room, there is no need to move. Just add on an addition. Additions could be used for home office, bedroom, in-law suites, kitchen, bathroom, family room, sunroom, or any recreational room. Any addition to your home is an excellent investment and improve your home's value.

You can purchase complete and detailed blueprints package that is needed for any quality construction project. Drawing package usually includes: foundation plan, floor plan, elevation plans, construction framing details, roof plan, electrical and plumbing plans, window and door schedule and much more.
Note that a purchased blueprints package might not comply with your City building codes and building requirements. Therefor, this package might have to be modifies by a qualified drafrtman or an Architect.

Things to do before you purchase any blueprints package:

b) Find out if he can provide all the required drawings and at what cost.

c) Talked to few of your local contractor's previous customers and find out the level of service he is able to provide and again at what cost.

There are few licensed and qualified contractor who provides all the required drawings and obtain the building permit at no cost at all. Here is one of those contractor for Maricopa and Pinal Counties in Arizona
