Building Green and Energy Efficient Sunroom Additions

Regardless of your belief level on "Global warming" or "Climate Change" you always should consider to incorporate few "Green Construction" techniques and materials in any construction project at your home or business. Note that I recommend few and not everything that is available in the marketplace. Cooling/Heating a Sunroom Addition or Room Addition

Cooling and heating a sunroom addition is a subject that many homeowners and some contractors are straggling with and have no clear understanding of what should be done.
Most homeowners are under the impression that adding additional ducts to the existing house system will be sufficient enough to cool and heat the new sunroom addition. The reality is that in most cases the existing house cooling/heating unit was not designed for the sunroom addition. it was designed only for the original house only. The efficiency of any cooling/heating system depends not only of the blower size but also on the ducts configuration. Such as size, length and the number and location of the registers and the air returns.
In most cases an existing cooling/heating system will not be able to handle an additional space, especially a sunroom addition.
